 Merryn Gamba studied at the RNCM and was twice awarded a major scholarship from the Dame Eva Turner Fund for Potential Dramatic Sopranos. She studied with Dinah Harris.

Oratorio and concert work includes performances of Verdi's Requiem, Mendlessohn's Elijah, Dvorak's Stabat Mater, Te Deum and Mass in D, Mozart's Requiem, Tippett's Spirituals, Lambert's Rio Grande, Rutter's Mass of the Children, Karl Jenkins Requiem, Luis Bacalov's Misa Tango, Honneggar's King David, Mahler's 4th Symphony, Berlioz Nuits D'Ete, Strauss Four Last Songs, Villa Lobos Bachianas Brasilieras 5, for groups such as BBC Philharmonic, CBSO Cellos, Buxton Festival, BBC Radio 3 and choral societies up and down the country.  

 

In the world of contemporary music she has performed Hallgrimmson’s opera Die Wält der Zwischefälle with the Iceland Symphony Orchestra under Andre de Ridder, Raising Sparks under James MacMillan for the Sounds New Festival, MacMillan’s Parthenogenesis and Raising Sparks for BBC Radio 3, Tippett's Byzantium with the Slovenian Radio Orchestra in Ljubljana, an experimental opera project Starf**cker by composer John Avery in association with Opera North, Hadewijch in Andriessen's De Materie at the Cheltenham Festival, Magd in Sancta Susanna with the BBC Philharmonic and Riot Woman in Turnage's Greek. Merryn can be heard as the solo soprano on the Chandos CD of Vaughan Williams’ Scott of the Antarctic.
